From the second I first saw her book, I knew SARK would be a huge inspiration. My aunt knew it, too, as she's the one who turned me onto her. SARK stands for everything I’ve aspired to be, regarding creativity and writerly success: she has a distinct voice, an unabashed vulnerability, and a clear style. She doesn't compromise who she is for anyone.
When I picked up Succulent Wild Love, I realized those traits aren’t only the hallmarks of her writing, but also the way she lives her life. When I flipped to one of her pages (as I always do with SARK’s books, because the aesthetics of the text are at least as stunning as the content), I read "Relationships don't require compromise or sacrifice. You can create joyful solutions instead." Once again I found myself in the pages of SARK's fabulous book.
The great love she referred to and the co-author of this book was Dr. John Waddell—a spiritual teacher and psychologist—a real, live Doctor Love. So when I learned that he had just died of Stage 4 cancer... when this unique person who somehow made an artist as strong and independent as SARK reassess her thoughts on Love was no longer with her . . . my heart broke.
Succulent Wild Love is a must-read for anyone who doubts the capacity of love to create the "impossible." It is a guidebook on how to attract wild love into your life, how to create a love that you seek, or how to transform a current relationship, using six simple, yet powerful, habits. A great book, from a phenomenally authentic set of people.
Thank you Dr. Waddell for this contribution.
